When we think about the backpack, the usual thing that comes to mind are the boring, dull looking, canvas/nylon  school bags (think UMBRO or Eastpack), or computer bags that some guys sling over their shoulders in their business attire/suit on the way to work. It’s one of those thing that I can never understand – what would a professional business executive in his proper shirt and pants carry a ugly backpack instead of a proper briefcase. And for that reason, I have shunned away from the backpack thinking that it’s the ugly stepsister of the more stylish totes and messenger bags.

But now, after viewing the MCM show last weekend at the Men’s Fashion Week 2012 Singapore and seeing the full press kit of MCM Fall Winter 2012 today, I have completely changed my mind about the backpack. Finally, here are some backpacks that I can rave about and want to own (every single one of them in fact). The MCM LEGEND Backpacks are going to be the hottest backpack in town. Available in the wildest colors, materials and design, the bags are every fashionista’s dream come true.

MCM, originally founded in Germany(1973),  recently made a phenomena comeback and is currently one of the hottest brands in South Korea and boast a whole string of Korean celebrities and K-pop stars like Rain, Big Bang who are seen frequently carrying the brand, and in their music videos.

MCM currently has boutiques in major cities such as Athens, Berlin, Düsseldorf, London, New York, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Seoul. The brand is also sold by prestigious retailers in key markets including the US, the UK, Dubai, Italy, and Russia. Word has it that the brand will be opening store in Singapore soon although not specific dates has been set. However, the MCM website listed Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 2 (T2) as one of the location of its store. You may want to check it out if you happen to be traveling out of Singapore via T2, there might be some pieces available on sale there.
