If you think golf is boring and dull, especially with its eccentric dress code, you are not alone. In fact, I think that is what drives and inspired Mrs Prada to come forth to create a whole collection centered around the golf theme and brilliantly giving it a colorful, and playful twist , blended with 70s retro, Havana style prints.
Breaking the traditional runway setting, the audience at the Prada SS12 Menswear Show sat upon a maze of blue, foam cubes placed symmetrically across a vast field of faux grass turf. The models weaved through the cubes to Fun Boy Three’s cover of “Summertime” and “Tunnel of Love”, which setting a kitschy funfair vigor. The clothes themselves were heavily influenced by the 70s, with large floral, psychedelic prints on shirts and foulard, paired with 70s-style checkered golfing trousers. Pulled up socks continued the 70s vibe whilst the eye-catching ‘fringe-tongued’ leather brogues with contrast block-colour soles and rubber studs completed the whole look – a guaranteed hit with all fashionistos.
Bravo to Prada for giving us, once again, a very chic and desirable collection that will definitely set some trends this the first half of the year.
