It’s summer sale season again. But instead of hitting the shopping centres squeezing with the crowd hunting for that perfect buy, why not just stay home and shop to your heart content at some of these cool sites (that I personally loved!). Here are my thoughts (what’s good…and bad) on each of the stores.
MENLOOK : A French-based ecommerce site that has recently opened an office in Singapore to reach out to the market here. Offers a wide selection of mid-end to some high-end brands like KENZO, A.P.C and Carven at pretty attractive price.
What we like about MENLOOK.com…

- It’s on SALE NOW!!!
- Has a Singapore Hotline to answer any questions
- Good pricing (compared to stores here)
- Brands are not overly high end, so there are a good selection of products in the mid-price range.
- The site is targeted at a mid-tier market between ASOS and Mr Porter.
and what we thought could be improved…
- More current season products
- Some brands have very limited selection of products
SSENSE: SSENSE is an international online retailer known for its directional selection of over 150 brands including Givenchy, Rick Owens Alexander Wang, Saint Laurent, KENZO, and Mugler.

- Allows us to shop and find the price for a product.
- Great pictorial and content section to complement the store.
and what we thought could be improved…
- Needs to offer FREE SHIPPING!
- Need to check the price of each item carefully, because different stores within the site sells at different prices. (Can be a bit buggy during the sale period)
MR PORTER: touted as ‘the’ global online retail destination for men’s style. Shop from over 180 of the world’s leading brands and enjoy expert weekly editorial content.
What we like about Mr Porter…
- Sales starts 2nd Jun (US Site)
- FREE SHIPPING to Singapore!
- Good selection of brands and products in the current season.
- Has one of the best designed site for men.
- Fantastic packaging.
- Fast delivery (1-4 working days)
- Great pictorial and content section to complement the store.
and what we thought could be improved…
- Having and serving the US and International market through 2 different sites sucks, because the US site always goes on sale first, and the international site will lag behind.
- Sometimes, the selection of items are not wide enough (ya… I get it, they are buying for a very discerning group of gentlemen.)
HYPEBEAST: The only Asian-based (Hong Kong) ecommerce site in this list. Started off as a content site that focuses on the street sneaker culture, the site now nows has a full-fledge online store stocking some of the coolest street wear brands.
What we like about Hypebeast…
- Good selection of street and cult brands, something different from the other sites.
- Great pictorial and content section to complement the store.
and what we thought could be improved…
- Free shipping please.
